Week 6 BioTec + Art
The concept and idea of bio art is so interesting and different from all the different types of art forms that we’ve studied so far in this class. Bio art for starters can be described as there are artists that think it's bio art because you are studying the tissues and using examples at the cellular level while the other consensus is just using images that have been collaborated and discussed between scientists is enough to be qualified as bio art. I find this so interesting because this class has continued to show how creative and subjective art is.

This week's lectures go into detail about all the experiments that are going on and that involve the concept of bio art. For instance, lecture number two explains how scientists use different tissues and DNA for their experiments where artists are present. One of the most interesting experiments I thought of was called “Fish And Chips” where they had a remote control robot looking thing drawn on pieces of paper creating art. Bio art involves a lot of experiments that may seem unorthodox and analysis which is quite interesting. Lastly, another aspect that I think is important is that there are foundations and universities that expand the teaching of bio art. This allows for people to be exposed and learn all about bio art which is very important as this concept is unique and not the most popular. This is allowing for it to gain attention and recognition.

Hi Jack. I really enjoyed viewing your post. Bio art is a very interesting field and I think your pictures especially the first one did a very good job portraying this. As you mentioned, art can be found in pretty much every field. While we don't often realize this, art is always surrounding us.
ReplyDeleteHello Jack,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog this week. I thought that it was very insightful and I learned a lot from reading what you wrote about this week. Specifically, I liked how you talked about the recognition and attention that bio art is gaining. I thought this was a really good point and I wish I would have included it in my blog. Great work Jack!
